Pickle Picnic für die Eröffnung der Transartsklassenshow Naja

Die Angewandte

For a group exhibition with some TransArts-classmates, I pickled pickles with a cucumber overnight recipe in a gallery’s beautiful old vault cellar. For the exhibition opening, I installed the preservation jars containing the pickles in a site-specific way. Pickling is political: as a productive catalyst for digestion with healthy pure brine in recyclable zerowaste jars standing for static national purity’s preservation, but at the same time, a sign of moving bacterias, rotting and disintegration and exportation. Regarding the fact that fermentation was invented by nomads I picked a turkish crocheted tablecloth as Pickle Picnic Blanket.

Although it was very cold, uncomfortable and uneasy in the damp cellar, some people tried my pickles and joined the picnic ritual as one can see in some documentary short films on YouTube.
